Craft Makr believes that technology can be a useful creative tool when it is used thoughtfully, transparently, and with human judgment.

Craft Makr may use artificial intelligence (“AI”) and AI-assisted technologies as part of its research, creative, editorial, and business workflows.

This policy explains how Craft Makr approaches AI and how Craft Makr Content may and may not be used with AI systems.

Our Approach to AI

Craft Makr is a human-led creative platform.

AI may be used as a tool to assist with activities such as:

  • Brainstorming
  • Idea development
  • Research assistance
  • Summarizing or organizing information
  • Exploring creative directions
  • Editing and refining language
  • Research and information analysis
  • SEO and content planning
  • Image generation
  • Image editing or modification
  • Creative experimentation
  • Other administrative or creative tasks

The use of AI does not mean that Craft Makr’s creative work is produced solely or autonomously by AI.

Craft Makr’s projects, creative direction, selection of ideas, physical making, editorial decisions, and final published work remain subject to human judgment and creative involvement.

Human Creative Responsibility

Craft Makr does not intend to publish purely AI-generated creative content as though it were independently developed human work.

AI-assisted material may be researched, modified, rejected, combined, photographed, redesigned, edited, or otherwise transformed as part of the creative process.

The final decision about what Craft Makr publishes belongs to Craft Makr.

AI-Generated and AI-Assisted Images

Craft Makr prefers to use original photographs of its own handmade work whenever reasonably possible.

However, some circumstances may make photography impractical, particularly for:

  • Lifestyle imagery
  • Illustrative scenes
  • Conceptual visuals
  • Product-in-use mockups
  • “Worn” or contextual imagery
  • Visual concepts that would otherwise require substantial production resources

In those circumstances, Craft Makr may use AI-generated or AI-assisted imagery.

Where an image has been substantially generated or altered using AI and could reasonably be mistaken for a real photograph or depiction of a real person, product, place, or event, Craft Makr may identify the image as AI-generated or AI-assisted.

Minor AI-assisted editing that does not materially change the nature or meaning of an original photograph may not require a separate disclosure.

AI and Real People

Craft Makr will not intentionally use AI to create misleading depictions of real people or use a real person’s likeness in a manner that violates applicable law or the person’s rights.

Craft Makr will take particular care with photographs, faces, likenesses, and other identifying information.

Where personal information is involved, applicable privacy requirements will be considered.

AI and Craft Makr’s Original Content

Craft Makr’s original Content—including its written tutorials, patterns, templates, photographs, illustrations, project instructions, and other creative material—is protected by applicable intellectual-property rights.

Craft Makr does not grant permission for its Content to be used to:

  • Train or fine-tune AI models
  • Build AI or machine-learning datasets
  • Develop competing AI systems or products
  • Generate derivative craft guides based substantially on Craft Makr’s Content
  • Reproduce Craft Makr patterns or instructions through AI
  • Create substitute versions of paid Craft Makr products
  • Automatically scrape or harvest Craft Makr Content for AI-related purposes

This restriction applies to both free and paid Craft Makr Content unless Craft Makr expressly states otherwise.

Nothing in this policy is intended to restrict a use that is expressly permitted by applicable law.

AI-Generated Reproduction of Craft Makr Content

You may not use an AI system to reproduce, transform, summarize, rewrite, translate, or restructure Craft Makr Content for the purpose of creating a substitute for the original Craft Makr material.

For example, you may not:

  • Upload a Craft Makr PDF to an AI service and ask it to create a new downloadable pattern based on it.
  • Ask an AI system to reproduce a Craft Makr tutorial in different wording and publish the result as your own.
  • Use Craft Makr’s instructions to generate a competing craft guide.
  • Use AI to recreate a Craft Makr pattern and sell the resulting pattern.
  • Feed substantial portions of a Craft Makr paid product into an AI system to create a replacement version.

These restrictions apply whether the resulting material is generated entirely by AI or edited by a human afterward.

Automated Scraping and Data Harvesting

Craft Makr does not authorize automated systems, bots, crawlers, scrapers, or similar technologies to systematically copy or harvest Website Content for AI training, dataset development, commercial reproduction, or competing services.

This does not prohibit ordinary search-engine indexing or other automated access that is permitted by applicable law and reasonably necessary for normal operation of the internet.

Third-Party AI Tools

Craft Makr may use third-party AI tools and services.

Depending on the service, information submitted to an AI provider may be processed according to that provider’s own terms and privacy policy.

Craft Makr will take reasonable care when selecting and using AI tools, particularly where personal, confidential, proprietary, or third-party information may be involved.

Craft Makr does not intentionally submit sensitive personal information to AI systems for unnecessary purposes.

AI-Assisted Research

AI may be used as a research and information-processing aid, including to:

  • Organize large amounts of information
  • Summarize sources
  • Identify potential topics
  • Generate research questions
  • Compare information
  • Assist with brainstorming
  • Help identify relevant sources for further review

AI-generated information may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or fabricated information.

Craft Makr does not treat AI output as automatically authoritative.

Important factual information may be independently checked, reviewed, or verified before publication.

Authenticity of Craft Makr Projects

The physical craft projects featured by Craft Makr are intended to represent real creative work and making.

AI may assist with ideation, presentation, or certain visual materials, but Craft Makr does not represent AI-generated imagery as photographic evidence that a physical project was actually made, worn, used, or photographed in a particular real-world setting when that is not the case.

Where an AI-generated image could reasonably create such an impression, appropriate disclosure may be provided.

Copyright and AI-Assisted Content

Craft Makr’s rights in AI-assisted material may depend on the nature of the human contribution, applicable law, and the terms of the relevant AI tool.

Craft Makr does not claim that every element generated by an AI system is independently protected by copyright.

Where applicable, Craft Makr claims and reserves its rights in the human-authored, human-created, edited, selected, arranged, photographed, designed, or otherwise protectable aspects of its Content.

Third-party materials incorporated into Craft Makr Content remain subject to their respective rights and licenses.

No Permission Granted by Publication

The presence of Craft Makr Content on the internet does not grant permission to:

  • Copy it into an AI system
  • Use it to train an AI model
  • Create a dataset from it
  • Generate competing products from it
  • Reproduce Craft Makr’s patterns or instructions
  • Automatically scrape it
  • Repackage it as AI-generated content

Any permitted use must arise from applicable law, an express license, or written permission from Craft Makr.

Reporting Concerns

If you believe Craft Makr has used AI-generated material in a way that misrepresents a person, infringes rights, violates privacy, or otherwise raises a legitimate concern, please contact:

Changes to This AI Policy

AI technology and the laws and standards surrounding it continue to evolve.

Craft Makr may update this policy as its use of AI changes, as new technologies become available, or as applicable laws and industry practices develop.

The current version will always be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
